A Hawaiian Airlines flight landed safely Friday morning at Hilo International Airport after reports of an in-flight emergency.

According to a Hawaiian Air spokesman, Flight HA19 from Sacramento to Honolulu diverted to Hilo International Airport this morning after crewmembers noticed an odor of smoke in the cabin. The odor was dissipating after crews turned off a fan that circulates air in the cabin; however the captain elected to proceed to Hilo as a precaution.

The aircraft arrived in Hilo at 9:30 a.m.

Firefighters, rescue crews and ambulances were standing by at the airport as a precaution.
